Design of Low Pass Filter Using Double Flower Shaped DGS Acting as Metamaterial

This paper proposes a new type of double flower shaped DGS structure which when etched on the metallic ground plane of a simple microstrip line gives low-pass filter characteristics. This is due to the metamaterial behaviour of the DGS. The frequency characteristics of the DGS are investigated by simulating the structure in Mom based IE3D simulator. The effective parameters of the metamaterial are extracted using NRW technique and MATLAB code.
